Dukes83 High Street
Now renamed just the 'Dukes', it was originally called the Dukes Arms and prior to this the Lords Arms after the 17th Century Lords of the Manor, although was renamed the Dukes Arms in the 19th Century in honour of the Duke of Wellington who was a frequent visitor to the village. The pub now has two main bars, plus a rear games room and upstairs' restaurant. Very much a community focused pub, it holds a May BH beer festival featuring 30 beers and Woodford Stock Music Festival on the August BH featuring additional beers. The rest of the year events include weekly open mic nights (Thursday) and acoustic sessions Sunday night. Food is also important with a carvery on Tuesdays, Wednesday pie night, Thursday fish and chips, a pizza barn in summer, and its famous 'Dogs Dinner'. This is also probably the first pub in the county to have a 3D television. Voted CAMRA Summer Pub of the Season 2014 and more recently Carlsberg Community Pub of the Year 2017/18.
