SUNDAY 29TH APRIL - SUMMER SUNDAY SAUNTER 8 AND PUB OF THE SEASON - LocAle
Before the diaries get full, we take the opportunity of having the heritage bus out for a popular Spring Sunday Saunter to the Welland Valley and back via Arthingworth where we will make a presentation for the Spring Rural Pub of the Season. It has been five years since the final Welland Valley Beer Festival and much has changed with pub closures, although it is pleasing to see the George, Ashley back in business. So initial plans are to call in at the Fox, Wilbarston; George, Ashley; Wheel and Compass, Weston-by-Welland; then into Market Harborough to the Beerhouse. Its then on to the Bulls Head, Arthingworth for dinner and the Pub of the Season presentation, before finishing off at our fourth ironstone pub of the day, the Hare at Loddington. Pick-ups will be Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering, and Desborough. Please book, a donation will be requested. Departure from Northampton will be around 10.30 subject to routing.
MONDAY 14TH MAY - BRANCH OPEN MEETING – NORTHAMPTON - LocAle
We haven’t been to the Bold Dragoon, Northampton, for a while so with the beer festival fast approaching, this month’s meeting will be in the former village of Weston Favell. Meet at 20.00.
FRIDAY 1ST - SUNDAY 3RD JUNE - NORTHAMPTON BEER FESTIVAL – NORTHAMPTON
This year, the Northampton Beer Festival is back for a second time at Becket’s Park and will again start on Friday through to Sunday afternoon. Once again our branch has offered support to running the real ale and cider bars and to organise the judging of the Beer of Northamptonshire competition. Staff are required at all sessions, please e-mail ku.gro.armac.stnahtron@namriahc if you can spare a few hours. If you would also like to be involved with the judging of beers and ciders, please e-mail ku.gro.armac-stnahtron@laicos
MONDAY 11TH JUNE - RURAL PUB OF THE YEAR PRESENTATION – WELFORD - LocAle
Our second POTY presentation takes us to the north of the county to the Wharf Inn, Welford, a pub that is ideally situated on a spur off the Grand Union Canal. With hosts Darren and Anna proving a good range of quality beers, we are pleased to make this award. If the weather is clement, get here earlier and undertake one of the walks that can be found listed in the pub. Presentation at 20.00.
