SATURDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER - HOP YARD TRIP
It’s been three years since the ‘tri-annual’ run of the infamous Hop Yard Trip, which has become a somewhat major event on the branch’s calendar. On our last visit in 2014, we visited the hop yard owned by Geoff Thompson. I am pleased to report that he is still growing hops although this may not continue for much longer as the cider orchards have taken off. An earlier start should see the hops being harvested and the ‘Heath Robinson’ machinery working. A breakfast stop is planned, plus a few brewery taps and afternoon visit to Worcester. Booking form available. Luxury coach is £20, with an option for breakfast. Leave Desborough 05.45, Northampton 06.45, return by 20.15 due to driver’s limited hours. Booking form available.
